Between my 3rd and 4th years of my undergraduate degree, I worked for 12 months at Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group (formerly Altera Corporation).
I worked in the device software group, which developed the software that allowed in-house hardware developers and end users configure Intel PSG’s Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) semiconductor devices.
I helped develop software tools for modeling signal routing in the Stratix 10 family of devices, which combined an FPGA with an ARM core. One of my main contributions was creating a HTML5 application for visualization of signal routing connectivity on the entire chip (consisting of over a million components), allowing for better analysis of complex connectivity problems. I also helped develop a Jenkins Continuous Integration Server to manage the intensive nightly build process.
